ADHD Alternative Medication Request

I was recently dianosed with ADHD. I am 41 years age, and I would like to know how ADHD affects adults, and what types of alternative medications can be used to treat the symptoms of impulsivity, compulsion to do everything right, hyperactivity, short term memory span and a low tolerance for frustration (a short fuse when frustrated). Thank you.

I've always liked the ADD.org website for adults with ADHD. It is located at:
http://www.add.org

Regarding alt meds for your symptoms, I'd recommend that you consider these:

For Impulsivity and Frustration - Extress by VAXA is excellent! It may also help with some of the compulsivity and perfectionism.

For the memory, attention, and hyperactivity VAXA's Attend is also very good.

You can also call the at 800-248-8292 if that's easier. Ask for Daniel, I think he's the head of customer service now. He's very helpful and he'll get the order right the first time. Tell him I said "hello".

I recommend our eating program, including essential fatty acid supplementation from fish oils, primrose oils, flax seed oil, etc., and really eating to optimize your brain's performance.

Finally, if you can afford it, brainwave biofeedback training might also be very helpful. You can learn more about it at:
http://www.eegspectrum.com

I'd try the Extress and Attend first, as they'd cost a lot less and can be just as effective. But the EEG biofeedback can work very well also. Also practice some purposeful relaxation, becoming "profoundly relaxed", for about ten minutes, twice per day.

I know there are a lot more ideas that would help you, but let's just start with these for now. I hope they help.

Dear Mr. Doug Cowan:
Thank you for a good response! I have been taking a prescription of (too much) Adderall, and it's not helping me with all of the symptoms that your mentioned in your email. The Adderall is also keeping me awake at night until the early morning hours, and I am exhausted during the day. I am hoping to have a better response with alternative medications. However, I would like to know how safe are the VAXA products, and are they homeopathic medications?
Thank you very much.

The VAXA products are safe, and contain both homeopathic medicines as well as nutritional
ingredients. I think that you will find the Extress very helpful to you, even if taking
the Adderall. Have you ever tried a shorter-acting medication (like ritalin) that might
not keep you up at night?

Its possible that your Adderall and Extress would give you what you are looking for. But
if the Adderall still keeps you up too much, then consider a shorter-acting medication,
or Attend by Vaxa. Be sure to have conversation with your doctor, and your pharmacist.
